If you have academic qualifications but lack job experience, or conversely have working experience but no formal qualifications, time abroad with MANGO can be very positively used. Our projects contain a mix of community, teaching, science and conservation working opportunities, your involvement in which can be formally recognised through the UK NVQ system (Vocational Qualifications at level 2 or 3). The process is simply to keep records of your work experience - diaries, photos, material produces, your host's comments/assessments of your skills - these build into a folder of evidence about your experience and skills. Qualified staff will help you build up your evidence, and this will be assessed on return to Europe. There is a small fee for the NVQ registration and assessment process. On a more informal basis, the working opportunities on offer will help you build your basic skill and confidence in areas such as working with people, IT, scientific data collection, teaching and a foreign language. Importantly, you will be working alongside local staff, and your confidence and capacity will help them to work more effectively too. |
